Watch Out, Max. Looks Like There’s a New Fro-Yo Spot in Town.

According to the sign, Yumilicious Frozen Yogurt will be moving into the former Great Harvest Bread Co. space in Snider Plaza.

Driving through Snider Plaza this morning, I noticed some construction at the former site of Great Harvest Bread Co. If you remember, the owner of the property chose to not renew the bakery’s lease. Instead, University Park will gain another frozen yogurt shop in Yumilicious, which, according to their website, was supposed to open last month.

Until now, the only fro-yo outpost in Snider Plaza belonged to the omnipresent Max Fuqua.

Hey Max: Does this mean war?

Absolutely! All out froyo war, bring it on! We had a blast at the 4th of July this year, when the Rotary Club invited both I Heart Yogurt and Plaza Health Foods to give out yogurt. I told the organizers to put their tent right across from ours so people could compare. We had tons of people asking “Why is yours so much better?” Loved it. Competition is the American way!

The froyo chains are coming back in a wave, just as they did ~20 years ago. Eventually people will get tired of it. And then we will move on to bagel chains, and then to coffee houses…
