West Village Wants To Sculpt Your Bod
We all know working out can be unpleasant. So it’s nice when you come across something that can make it seem like less of chore. Right? Well, Nigel Lythgoe, who serves as a judge on a little show called So You Think You Can Dance, has declared July 31 “National Dance Day,” to encourage people across the country to dance as a means to stay fit and healthy. In honor of the day, the West Village will host an hour-long, complimentary burlesque dance and body sculpt class from 10 to 11 a.m. July 31 in the north alley, between Avalon Salon and Point Mobl.
According to the press release, the class “incorporates classical and contemporary dance exercises with burlesque dance movement and mood appropriate music to create a fun and playful tone-and-tease dance class.” Hmm. Well, if it helps make my abs look like the girl’s in the picture over there, I’m in! If you’re interested and not shy, throw on some yoga attire and sneakers, and head over. The class will be led by trainer Jana Edele, who teaches it weekly at the Verandah Club. Edele is also the founder of the cabaret show and production company, The Velvet Kittens. Meow. Sounds like she knows her stuff. For more info, call Susan Friedman at 214-559-0122.
