Thank God The Swing Was Unoccupied
I took this photo at 6:20 at the corner of Stanford and Dickens. Apparently, a Lexus and Volvo collided in the intersection, and both wound up on the lawn of Jim and Katina Thornton.
Miraculously, both vehicles missed the tree in the Thorntons’ yard, the utility pole on the corner, and the Thorntons’ SUV, which was parked on Dickens. But as you can see, the Lexus went right into a child’s swing. Thankfully, none of the Thorntons’ six children was using it at the time.
Neither driver was on the scene when I arrived, but I was told that no one was seriously hurt. We’ll try to get an update from University Park authorities in the morning.
Stanford Avenue was an unlucky street yesterday. Accident around 2:45 at Stanford and Preston.
