Celebrate the Holiday at the Arboretum

This year’s Holiday at the Arboretum exhibit is getting extra festive with the 12 Days of Christmas, now open at night, which will begin Nov. 6 and run through Jan. 8.

Twelve Victorian gazebos will be displayed in the garden encased in glass and decorated with costumed characters, animals, and winter scenes representing the Christmas carol like twelve “music boxes.” At night, the gazebos will be lit up with 500,000 lights throughout the garden, with a 30-foot-tall Christmas tree at the center of the garden.

The Arboretum is also adding a new Claus Collection Santa exhibit, from Nov. 25 through Dec. 31, held in the historic DeGolyer House. The Junior League of Dallas has loaned decorations to the exhibit, which will feature different artistic representations of Santa Claus (Saint Nicholas, Father Christmas, Sinterklaas, Papa Noel).

The DeGolyer House will be open daily 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Wednesday evenings from 6-9 p.m; on these evenings they will also open for reservation-only dinners.

These exhibits are rounded out by holiday teas, Santa sightings, and other festive activities.

“Live music, special holiday performances, appearances by our favorite North Pole residents, and holiday treats make this evening display a one-of-a-kind, not-to-be missed family outing,” said Mary Brinegar, president and CEO of the Dallas Arboretum.
