What Do You Think of These Decorations?

Right at the corner of Emerson Avenue and Westchester Drive, this townhouse stands adorned with some unusual Halloween decorations. The decor, full of caution tape and blue, hazmat trash cans, is clearly meant to indicate — or mock? — all the recent Ebola drama. Just to make sure it’s a joke, a white sign labeled “Happy Halloween” hangs from the balcony. What do you think? Was this in poor taste, or is the resident well within his rights?

    Of course the usual pearl-clutchers will say it’s horrible and insensitive. Most likely, they will say it in all caps with a “how dare you” and “think of the children” thrown in for good measure.

    But it’s fine, and it is funny. First, Ebola is scary and after all this is Halloween. And anytime one of our neighbors openly mocks the idiotic Ebola hysteria that gripped our community this month, it is a very good thing.

    Of course the resident is within his rights, is that a real question/comment? The taste question is fine, end there.

    The decorations are fine, those townhouses on the other hand are cringe-worthy.

    I think it’s humorous, just hope that they invite Clay Jenkins over for a cocktail!

    It’s funny, until you remember the thousands of Africans who at this moment are suffering and dying from Ebola. But who cares as long as we can chuckle about how clever we are.

    My costume theme this year is: BANNED BOOK. Y’all help me decide? Should I be a dog? A racecar driver? A girl named Katherine? How about a poor girl from Appalachia who grows up to be an accomplished author? Naw! Too provocative, I agree. Maybe I should be a hotel desk clerk or a retail worker, you know, from Working Poor? Yeah, no. No one would really get that because no one could really understand why the heck that book was banned. Hmmm . . . help me out here.

    If he has so much money to decorate why is he renting a town house? Multi family in UP. Ew.

    @Pondering: watch your trap!
    -The decorations cost ~$150
    -Townhomes aren’t the same as apartments, so rental or not, I’m sure it costs a fortune to live there. Where do you live, what are your living expenses and why do you care?
    -multi family zoning is governed by the city. Take it up with your mayor and city council
    Don’t be a douche
