Police Report: August 5 to August 10
SKULDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: Garage Door Opener
Between 5 and 5:14 a.m. on Aug. 5, a burglar broke into a detached garage in the 3700 block of Maplewood Avenueand stole three televisions, with a combined value of $3,500, from a garage apartment and workout room. When officers arrived, they found all doors to the garage open and a screwdriver and steak knife on the bed of the apartment. They also found the TVs leaning against a nearby fence, and returned them to the homeowner. Later that morning, a resident of the 3800 block of Maplewood called police after he noticed suspicious activity near his garage, and found a Trek bicycle and three Hawaiian shirts in the alley.
HIGHLAND PARK
5 TUESDAY
At 5 a.m., Nacia Noelle Nicodemus, 36, of Dallas was arrested in the 3400 block of Armstrong Avenue on a public intoxication charge.
6 WEDNESDAY
Between 9 p.m. on Aug. 5 and 9 a.m. on Aug. 6, a vandal keyed a black 2014 Mercedes ML3 in the 3500 block of Harvard Avenue.
7 THURSDAY
At 10:26 a.m., Cesar Ignacio Haro-Gonzalez, 30, of Dallas was arrested in the 4500 block of Westway Avenue on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
UNIVERSITY PARK
5 TUESDAY
Between 6 p.m. on Aug. 4 and 8 a.m. on Aug. 5, a thief entered a detached garage in the 3300 block of Hanover Street and stole three boys bicycles with a combined value of $900.
Between 9 p.m. on Aug 4 and 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 5, a thief stole a $100 Mongoose girls bicycle that was chained to a staircase at an apartment complex in the 3200 block of Rosedale Avenue.
6 WEDNESDAY
Between 6 p.m. on Aug. 5 and 9 a.m. on Aug. 6, a thief stole $105 in cash and a $15 cell-phone charger from a desk drawer atHighland Park High School.
Between 10:30 and 11:30 a.m., a thief stole a $900 Raleigh boys bicycle from the backyard of a house in the 3400 block of Normandy Avenue.
At 1:59 p.m., a woman tried to cash two counterfeit checks for $1,250 at Bank of Texas in the 6200 block of Hillcrest Avenue. Maria Del Carmen Tapia, 42, of Dallas was arrested on a charge of forgery of a financial instrument.
7 THURSDAY
Between 7 a.m. and 2:15 p.m., a thief entered an unlocked red 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe in the 3500 block of Centenary Drive and stole a $20 wallet containing $60 in cash.
9 SATURDAY
Between 9:18 and 9:48 p.m., a vandal shattered the rear window of a white 2009 Mitsubishi Outlander in the 4100 block of Emerson Avenue, but nothing was reported stolen.
At 9:51 p.m., John Russell Tiller, 41, of University Park was arrested in the 4200 block of University Boulevard on a public intoxication charge.
10 SUNDAY
At 3:20 a.m., Kayla Eve Lorentz, 28, of Dallas was arrested in the4100 block of Windsor Parkway on a public intoxication charge.
Between July 15 and Aug. 10, a thief entered an attached garage in the 4100 block of University Boulevard and stole a $539 Cannondale boys bicycle while causing $39 in damage to a lock.
Between 10:40 a.m. and 2 p.m., a thief stole $1,000 worth of used doors, shutters, window, flooring, and other items from a remodeled home in the 4400 block of Glenwick Lane.
