UP Will Take Your Junk (For One Day)
University Park will hold a take-back event for prescription drugs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, in which residents are encouraged to dispose of unwanted and unused medicines on the fire station side of University Park City Hall. Highland Park DPS also is participating.
The effort, which is hosted by the University Park Police Department, is part of a nationwide drug-disposal program started by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration in 2010.
Also on Saturday, the city will host a recycling event from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot at Highland Park Middle School. That event will include shredding of documents, as well as the disposal of items such as computers and accessories, televisions, cell phones, and other electronics.
