Preschool Group Raises $78K Without Tour
The Armstrong Bradfield Preschool Association’s annual “Homes for the Holidays” Home Tour had to be canceled in December due to icy weather. But the group was still able to present a $78,000 check to the Armstrong and Bradfield principals last month, thanks to generous sponsors and donors, plus some hard work by the association’s members.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to gift $78,000 to our elementary schools given the extreme weather situation we faced this year,” said Tracy Wallingford, the association’s president. “We look forward to a sleet-free home tour in 2014, and hope everyone will come out once again and enjoy our community’s beautiful homes, while helping support our schools.”
With four homes ready for showing and a holiday bazaar prepped with gifts, Home Tour chairs Suzi Ellis and Claudia Williams made the difficult decision to cancel the event for the first time.
“We want to thank all of the home owners for the preparation they did to make their beautiful homes ready for the tour,” Ellis and Williams said in a statement released by the association.
Since 1998, the ABPA has raised more than $400,000 through the “Homes for the Holidays” tour. Proceeds are given to Armstrong and Bradfield elementary schools to provide educational support materials, field trips, and enrichment programs for the kindergarten and first-grade classes.
Sponsors of the 2013 tour included Baylor Medical Center at Dallas, Briggs-Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty, Long Cove, Sewell, and Southern Botanical.
