Branch Proposes Renaming Central For Bush

The Observer‘s Eric Nicholson reports that state Rep. Dan Branch, R-University Park, has filed a bill that would rename North Central Expressway as the President George W. Bush Expressway. As Eric points out, this could get confusing, because we already have the President George Bush Turnpike to the north, not to mention the newly rechristened Bush Avenue. But in a city that will soon add the Margaret McDermott Bridge alongside the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, I have no doubt that Branch’s proposal will get approved.

Please, no. If TX couldn’t afford to keep the bushes and other greenery on Central, it can’t afford to add Bushes to all the signs. Plus, he’s already got the museum and institute and avenue newly named for him, and the turnpike name works for 41 and 43. No need to confuse drivers. The state should honor the self-proclaimed “education president” by spending the money to help restore its fair share of school funding, a higher priority for Dan Branch’s constituents burdened by exorbitant school property taxes.

I wasn’t aware of the new second bridge being named Margaret. Now it’s my understanding they plan to build a third one later down the road, does this mean it too will also be named Margaret? Haha. Anyhow, I agree that changing North Central to George Bush will be very confusing. I think the city of Dallas has payed enough Homage with the George Bush Turnpike and recently renamed Bush Ave.

To clear up any confusion, just name N. Central as Idiot Son Highway and everyone would know who was being honored.

Right you are. I really think every hundred feet of 75 N should be named after each one of our young troops needlessly killed to satisfy the Idiot Son’s bizarre neocon ambitions.

Applying your rationale, we should also refer to Hillary as Idiot Wife and you can insert your choice after Idiot for Kerry, Edwards, Biden, and the other 109 Dems and 264 Repubs who also voted Yes to go to war. Always so hard to remember that Idiot Son had the elected representatives vote.

The Iraq war was brought to us not by idiots but by dishonest and gullible smart people.

    Leave Central alone.
