Scots Subdue Lions in District Opener
The best offensive night of the season led Highland Park to a dominating 14-1 win over Carrollton Turner in the District 12-5A baseball opener on Wednesday at Scotland Yard.
Isaac Hutchinson allowed just one hit over four innings on the mound for the Scots (6-7, 1-0), while Martin True led a lineup that produced five extra-base hits. The game was abbreviated due to the mercy rule.
HP was able to bounce back after a tough tournament weekend in which the Scots lost four out of five games at the Scotland Yard Classic, including the last three in a row. They defeated Odessa Permian but fell to Waxahachie, Red Oak, Keller, and Little Elm, scoring just six runs combined in the four defeats.
With the 11-game homestand now behind them, the Scots will finish the two-game series against the Lions on Friday in Carrollton.
