UP City Council Welcomes New Members

The University Park City Council has two new faces.

Lawyer Philip Philbin and Bob Myers of Myers Commercial joined the council, replacing outgoing councilmembers Mayor Pro Tem Randy Biddle and Gage Prichard.

“We’ve got an outstanding group of staff, employees. I think it was never more evident than last year during the ice storm,” Biddle said.

“I want to thank all the citizens for allowing me to serve. It’s been a great pleasure and very rewarding,” Prichard said.

Councilwoman Liz Farley took over the Mayor Pro Tem role for the next year.

Prior to joining the city council, Myers served on the city’s commercial retail advisory committee, as well as on the board of Salesmanship Club of Dallas, St. Anthony’s School, and Northwood Club. He and his wife Pam have three children and seven grandchildren.

Philbin previously served on the city’s planning and zoning commission, zoning ordinance advisory committee, and as chair of the legislative committee. He’s also served in leadership and board roles with the Salesmanship Club of Dallas.

Rachel Snyder, former deputy editor at People Newspapers, joined the staff in 2019, returning to her native Dallas-Fort Worth after starting her career at community newspapers in Oklahoma. One of her stories won first place in its category in the Oklahoma Press Association’s Better Newspaper Contest in 2018. She’s a fan of puns and community journalism, not necessarily in that order.
