UP City Council Moves Forward on Various Projects
The University Park City Council approved funding resolutions for the cost of design and construction services for the shared Turtle Creek Sanitary Sewer Main with the town of Highland Park.
The first funding resolution was for financial participation in the cost of design services for the rehabilitation of the shared Turtle Creek Sanitary Sewer Main in the amount of $163,209.00 and the second was for the cost of construction services and other improvements for the project in the amount of $1,100,000.
“I know the mayor, everyone has worked so hard with Highland Park to get to this point,” councilwoman Liz Farley said.
The city council first approved a funding resolution in the amount of $135,209 in August of 2021 for costs associated with design of improvements to the sewer main. The cost-share was based on the terms outlined in a 2009 interlocal agreement between the city and Highland Park regarding the use, operation, maintenance, and obligations of the shared main.
Under the terms of the interlocal agreement, the city is responsible for 50% of the costs related to maintenance of the sanitary sewer main.
In other news:
- The city council approved continuing an agreement with Building Code Consulting Services for construction inspections in an amount not to exceed $110,000. The city first hired Building Code Consulting Services in January with a spending cap of $35,000 to take on some of the construction inspection work. University Park Community Development Director Patrick Baugh said plan review times for permits have returned to about three or four weeks since 2020.
- The city council approved a final payment of $12,534.69 to C. Green Scaping. The city council in May 2021 approved a contract for $259,930.50 for installation and replacement of approximately 14,000 square feet of sidewalk and approximately 30 curb ramps in various locations throughout the city.
