Rangers Will Host Horn to Open Playoffs
Jesuit’s latest dominating victory — a 40-14 triumph against Irving MacArthur on Thursday — clinched a share of the District 9-6A championship for the Rangers, who could win the title outright next week against Carrollton R.L. Turner.
With its sixth consecutive victory overall, the Rangers (8-1, 6-0) also are assured of the district’s top seed in the Division II playoff bracket, meaning Jesuit will host Mesquite Horn in the bi-district round on Nov. 13.
Among area public schools, things didn’t go as well this week. Hillcrest, Thomas Jefferson, and W.T. White each lost and were eliminated from postseason contention. In the case of the Longhorns, it came down to a blocked field-goal return in the fourth quarter of a tie game.
