St. Mark’s Student Wins Major Scholarship
Trevor Burke from St. Mark’s School of Texas is a winner in the annual Washington Crossing Foundation National Scholarship Competition.
The prestigious awards are granted to high school seniors for the best all-around presentations including an explanation of why they are planning careers in government service. The Foundation noted that these winners represent the most talented and accomplished of our country’s young leaders and that it is these young men and women who are dedicating themselves to public service.
Headquarters is in Bristol, Pennsylvania, the Foundation awarded $83,500 in 2019 and more than $1.6 million since its inception.
Scholarships were inaugurated in 1969 and honor the more than sixty years of dedicated service to the nation by the late author-historian Ann Hawkes Hutton.
Burke is an advanced placement scholar with distinction and has a perfect grade-point-average. He conducted engineering research through an internship at NASA, serves on the National Youth Leadership Council of EarthEcho International, and as the national conservation chair for the National Society of the Children of the American Revolution.
Burke was recognized as the 2018 Texas Eagle Scout of the Year and received the President’s Volunteer Service Award.
