Lynch, Rangers Rally Past Sachse

With its season on the line, Jack Lynch and his Jesuit teammates came through in the clutch.
Lynch hit a two-run single in the top of the 11th inning to lift the Rangers to a thrilling 6-2 win over Sachse in Game 2 of a Class 6A Region II bi-district playoff series on Friday.
Jesuit went on to claim the decisive third game 10-0 in five innings on Saturday in Allen to complete a rally that took the Rangers (24-11) from the brink of elimination to the second round in less than 24 hours.
Next up, the Rangers will face Rockwall in the area round. The best-of-three series begins in Rockwall at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, with Game 2 slated for 7:30 p.m. Friday at Wright Field. A third game, if necessary, will be Saturday at a time and location to be determined.
Lynch’s game-winning hit to right-center field came with the bases loaded and nobody out. Jesuit tacked on two more runs when a bunt led to a throwing error by the Mustangs.
The left-handed ace wasn’t the only hero for the Rangers, however. Ben Shepherd relieved Lynch on the mound with 4.2 innings of no-hit relief to earn the victory. And it was Jalon Mack’s two-run single in the sixth that brought Jesuit back from a 2-0 deficit.
Jesuit used a six-run first inning and dominant pitching from Gavin Perryman to clinch the series on Saturday by eliminating the regular-season champions from District 10-6A. Perryman needed only 46 pitches in five innings.
Sachse won the series opener on Thursday, with the only highlight for the Rangers coming on a solo home run by Connor Chavez.
