Open Up and Say, ‘Aahhh’

For the sake of the Health & Beauty page in the print product, I spent seven hours at the Cooper Clinic on Monday, having my eyes, ears, lungs, heart, skin, blood, and urine examined or tested. This picture was taken while a picture of my tonsils was being taken. Read more about the procedure in Friday’s edition of Park Cities People.

Hey Dan, did your health insurance pay for any or all of that?

@kmom: Much like when a movie studio screens a film for critics, no money changed hands. But I can tell you this: The Cooper Clinic invited me out to drum up publicity for their new “platinum” program, in which patients have 24/7 access to UP resident Michael Chapman as their primary-care physician. And that program does not accept insurance.

Can’t imagine how wealthy I’d have to be to forgo using my health insurance……..I did have a major health issue that racked up hundreds of thousands of dollars last year, so maybe I’m a bit sensitive. Just paying deductibles, co-pays and for all the little things the insurance denied was a freaking fortune, so yeah – can’t imagine choosing to cash and carry our health care.
