Park Cities Residents to be Honored at Legacy of Hope Luncheon

Two Park Cities residents will be honored at the Legacy of Hope Luncheon this October.

Anne Compton, chair of the board of directors of Reconciliation Outreach, will be honored with the Divine Servant Award in recognition of her many years of dedicated service on the Board.

Key Coker Jr., a sophomore at Highland Park High School, will receive the Junior Divine Servant Award for his beautification contributions to Reconciliation Outreach. He has built two large exterior crosses for the property on Peak Street as an Eagle Scout project.

The annual Legacy of Hope Luncheon benefitting Reconciliation Outreach, a ministry for the needy in Old East Dallas, will be held at 11 a.m. Oct. 8 at the Dallas Country Club.

Reconciliation Outreach was founded by Dorothy Moore over 31 years ago to create a Christian community serving the needs of broken lives in the inner city.

Reconciliation Outreach provides comprehensive faith-based programs designed to end the cycle of poverty for neighborhood children, youth and families. After-school programs for at-risk children from kindergarten to fifth grade provide mentoring and one-on-one tutoring. The summer camp program serves ages five through 18. The organization also provides temporary transitional housing for the working poor who need to rebuild their finances in a safe environment in order to become self-sufficient members of their community.

Keynote speaker for the luncheon will be The Honorable Faith Johnson, District Attorney for Dallas County. Event co-chairs are Judy Martin and Jean Raub.

Individual luncheon tickets may be purchased online at www.rodallas.org for $150 each. Oct. 1 is the deadline for ticket purchase.
