Crime Reports Sept. 3 – 9
SKULDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: DO YOU HAVE THAT IN MY SIZE?
A 300-plus man asking to try on “smaller-sized” women’s clothing that obviously “would not fit” from Forty-Five Ten also walked out of the Highland Park Village storefront around 11 a.m. Sept. 6 with a $1,450 Gucci Marmont Velvet bag without paying for it. HIGHLAND PARK
3 Monday
Stolen before 7 a.m.: thirty DVDs, valued at $450, and two pairs of Maui Jim sunglasses, valued at $400, from a 2017 white Cadillac Escalade parked overnight in the 4600 block of Belclaire Ave.
Around 9 a.m., a couple walking their dog in the 3300 block of St. Johns Drive found a set of keys laying on the sidewalk.
A couple becoming familiar to the police reports lately were spotted again around 12:30 p.m. stealing luxury items from Highland Park Village. This time around, the 300-pound man and his partner in crime, a woman with different colored dreadlocks, had their greedy eyes on a pair of pool slide sandals, valued at $1,390, from Tom Ford. The duo uses a pretty obvious tactic where they ask a sales associated to look for something in the back of the store and then walk out with the merchandise. The couple is also suspected of stealing a purple Gucci mini Marmont purse worth $1,590 on Aug. 22 and $750 sneakers and $520 monster eyes shirt from Fendi on Aug. 28
6 Thursday
Stolen before 7 a.m.: an Underground Solutions trailer holding thousands of dollars of construction materials from a job site near the intersection of Preston Road and Edmondson Avenue. The combined value of the property loss was $10,200.
Around 12:30 p.m., a moving truck with the words “Autobus” on the side struck some dangling tree limbs in the 3700 block of Maplewood, causing them to fall on a 2017 white Dodge Ram. The driver of the moving truck didn’t stop.
8 Saturday
A woman who “didn’t want to drive any longer” decided to leave her 2013 white BMW 328 in the driveway of a home in the 4100 block of St. John Drive. When she returned to retrieve her vehicle, police had already been called and chose to tow the vehicle.
9 Sunday
Around 4 a.m., a 2012 black Mercedes CL550, which the owner claimed to have paid cash for, was stolen by way of a tow truck from his driveway in the 4400 block of Westway Drive. In addition to the $35,000 car, two to three pairs of sunglasses and a grocery receipt in the back seat were stolen.
UNIVERSITY PARK
3 Monday
Between 11:30 a.m. and 12:45 p.m., a Coach purse and contents valued at $970 was stolen from a 2016 white Infiniti QX70 parked in the 6000 block of Preston Road.
4 Tuesday
A potential “customer” attempted to cash a fraudulent check around 11:30 a.m. at a bank in the 6500 block of Hillcrest Avenue.
Clothing was stolen around 2:45 p.m. from a specialty store in the 8300 block of Preston Road by way of fraudulent credit cards.
5 Wednesday
The gas stove, valued at $12,000, was stolen sometime overnight before 5:08 a.m. from a home in the 3600 block of Bryn Mawr Drive.
Stolen before 6:35 a.m.: a flat screen television and computer equipment valued at $1,792, from a home in the 4200 block of Lovers Lane.
6 Thursday
Several pieces of jewelry, valued at $15,000, were stolen sometime between 8 a.m. Sept. 4 and 10 a.m. Sept. 6 from a home in the 3900 block of Lovers Lane.
Offensive words were scratched into a 2017 brown Ford F-150 sometime between noon and 1 p.m. while parked in the 4400 block of Emerson Avenue. A 2013 black Lexus LL in the 4300 block of Hyer Avenue also reported their vehicle had been keyed during the same time frame.
7 Friday
A 2010 gray Honda Accord, valued at $10,000, was stolen sometime between 5 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. while parked in the 3400 block of Mcfarlin Boulevard.
About $95 worth of merchandise was stolen around 11 p.m. from a CVS in the 3000 block of Mockingbird Lane.
