Voting Day, Are the Kids Safe?
A voting Overheardian wonders about the security today:
Did you vote today? At the middle school? We walked in a side door, where a very nice woman with a “substitute teacher” badge on directed us … “down that hall take a left, then a left, then a right, then a right, then another right. So off we went traipsing through MIS. Absolutely no security.
UPDATE: I just received a message from Helen Williams and Richard Bohac. Bohac said he has 3 subs on various doors, a highly visible DARE officer and teachers on high alert. I’m not sure if it’s his voice or that people fear him but I feel like he’s got it under control.
Yes. The kids are safe.
It would be illegal to run a background check on voters.
kmom, but do we have to put the polls in the schools?
This clip will appear again.

Yawn.
As far back as I can remember there’s always been voting at schools. Has there ever been an incident of a voter harming a child? All these years, all these votes – could be literally a billion votes cast in schools over the years and no one harmed. I don’t see a reason to change the system. I think they have a much greater chance of being harmed by a trusted religious based counselor, minister, youth leader, priest – odds are much higher.
@kmom–you are obviously not in charge of marketing the Raptor system to school districts nationwide.
Hey Maggie, if we bore you so much, don’t read the blog!
At Bradfield voting, there is very limited egress … in a side door to get to the gym, and back out. Eyes on you all the time.
Wouldn’t miss this blog for the world.
Does the school district get compensated for allowing the state, federal, local and county governments use the school property? If not, why not?
UP Elementary voting was in the empty portables. Genius.
