Marcus Eliminates Rangers in Third Game
Jesuit Dallas rallied but fell short in a thrilling Game 3 on Saturday against Flower Mound Marcus, which ended the baseball season for the Rangers.
The Marauders won 14-11 in a seesaw series-clincher in the Class 6A Division II area round after the teams split the first two games of the series.
Braxton Barber hit a grand slam in the fifth inning to cut a seven-run deficit to three in the deciding game, but Marcus kept Jesuit at bay over the final two innings to advance.
The Rangers (25-9) won the series opener on Thursday, 7-4 in eight innings. E’Mar Fleming drove in two runs with a single in extra innings, and Dillon Brandt pitched four shutout innings out of the bullpen.
The Marauders (26-9) battled back with a 5-0 shutout victory in Game 2 on Friday, setting up the offensive fireworks the following day.
In other playoff action this weekend, W.T. White was swept by Midlothian in an area round series in 5A Division I. The Longhorns (18-16) were blanked 5-0 on Thursday and 7-0 on Saturday to end their season.
