Jesuit’s Beucler Wins 200 Regional Crown

Jesuit Dallas sprinter Harlan Beucler is heading to the Class 6A state track and field meet as a medal contender in the boys 200 meters.

The junior won the event at the Region I meet on Saturday in Arlington in a time of 20.9 seconds, just edging runner-up Cole Coppedge of Hebron.

The state meet is slated for May 3 in Austin. Beucler will make his second appearance after running as part of Jesuit’s 4×400 relay quartet a year ago.

Earlier this season, Beucler said three school records for the Rangers, including both the indoor and outdoor marks in the 200.

In Class 5A, Hillcrest junior Hannah Berry advanced to state in the girls high jump with a runner-up regional finish. She cleared a height of 5 feet, 6 inches on Saturday in Arlington and will make her debut at state for the Panthers.
