SKULDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: TRASHY TRAVELS

A concerned truck driver contacted the Highland Park Department of Public Safety at about 6:33 a.m. on March 17 because he might have caused a gas leak by knocking a trash cart onto a gas meter in an alley near the intersection of South Versailles Avenue and Westside Drive.

19 Wednesday
A 32-year-old woman was arrested for driving while intoxicated after a crash was reported on Preston Road at about 6:37 p.m.
20 Thursday
A thief in the night stole a 2022 GMC Sierra on Stanford Avenue before 7:15 a.m.
Reported at 1:09 p.m. on Milton Avenue: A fraudster tried to use the personal information of a 71-year-old woman for a credit card.
A 37-year-old man was arrested in the 4500 block of Lovers Lane at about 10:42 p.m. for driving while intoxicated. A Taurus G3C 9 mm pistol and ammunition were logged as evidence in the case.

A 21-year-old man was arrested for delivery of marijuana after being caught with five green baggies containing a leafy substance at about 1:19 a.m. on Lovers Lane.
A 27-year-old man was arrested on a warrant, for delivery of marijuana, and for failing to identify himself after being found with eight bags containing a leafy substance and other items at about 3:34 a.m. on Lovers Lane.

A 23-year-old man was arrested for theft after a vehicle was reported tampered with at about 5:46 a.m. on University Boulevard.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested for carrying a weapon without a license at about 1:59 a.m. in the 4400 block of Beverly Drive.
A 21-year-old man was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia at about 1:59 a.m. in the 4400 block of Beverly Drive.
A valet in Highland Park Village flipped over a golf cart when he made a sweeping right turn at about 10:15 p.m.

A 31-year-old man was arrested for theft and evading arrest or detention at about 5:23 p.m. in the 4300 block of Mockingbird Lane.
20 Thursday
Reported at 10:39 a.m.: A fraudster changed the recipient of a check mailed by a resident of the 4500 block of Belfort Place, and increased the check’s amount from $201.30 to $4,201.30.
A sneaky thief stole a locked 2022 GMC Sierra Denali pickup parked in front of a home in the 4400 block of Southern Avenue before 10 a.m.
Valet employees in the 4200 block of Oak Lawn Avenue turned in a black iPhone to the Department of Public Safety after they discovered it near the valet vestibule at about 11:10 a.m.

A 33-year-old man was arrested for carrying a weapon without a license and driving while intoxicated at about 8:37 p.m. in the 4300 block of Wycliff Avenue.
