Scott David Townend
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Scott David Townend, who left us on February 19, 2025. Born on June 16, 1981, Scott lived a life full of passion, laughter, and love, touching the lives of many with his generosity, and culinary artistry. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle and friend to many. He attended Highland Park High School and the Art Institute of Dallas, Culinary Arts.
A gifted and dedicated chef, Scott’s career took him to kitchens across the country and beyond, from Washington, D.C., to Dallas, Texas, New York City, Malibu, California, St. Lucia, and Aspen, Colorado. His talent for creating remarkable meals was matched only by his ability to bring people together around a table, where food and friendship intertwined effortlessly.
In his own words, Scott said, “his culinary journey has been marked by a dedication to the art of modern American & nouveau cuisine coupled with the seamless management of high-volume banquet kitchens, a la carte full-service restaurant kitchens and in Five Star Five Diamond hotel properties.”
Scott’s greatest joys in life were his family and the laughter they shared. He had an infectious spirit, a sharp wit, and a deep love for those closest to him. Whether he was crafting a beautiful dish, telling a great story, playing music on his guitar or simply enjoying the company of loved ones, Scott made every moment memorable.
He leaves behind a legacy of warmth, creativity, joy and his strong faith in Jesus Christ that will be forever cherished by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though his time with us was far too short, his impact will never fade.
He is survived by his mother Julia Townend Glasgow, stepfather Henry “Hank” Glasgow, father David William Townend, stepmother Jeanmarie Townend and siblings Andrew Townend (Sophie), Bill Townend (Kathleen), Katie Townend Doherty (Neal), and Audrey Townend.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, March 7 at 10am in the Highland Park Presbyterian Church Sanctuary. Reception to follow in Hunt Lobby. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the American Diabetes Association. Scott will be profoundly missed, but never forgotten. May he rest in peace, surrounded by love and laughter.
