Scots Prepared to Start Postseason Push
One week after the Highland Park girls toppled Frisco Emerson to start their playoff run, their HP boys counterparts will look to duplicate that feat on Tuesday.
The Scots will face the Mavericks in a Class 5A Division I bi-district matchup at Garland Naaman Forest. With a win, they would meet either Lufkin or Melissa in the area round.
Despite a loss to Frisco Lone Star in the regular-season finale — in which the Scots (25-7) allowed a season-high 80 points — HP tied for the runner-up spot in District 12-5A and earned the league’s top seed in the Division I bracket.
Elsewhere in Region II, W.T. White will face North Mesquite in its playoff opener on Tuesday at Richardson Pearce. The Longhorns (23-7) tied with South Oak Cliff for the District 13-5A title during the regular season and will enter postseason play on a six-game winning streak.
Hillcrest also earned a spot in the 5A Division I bracket, and will clash with West Mesquite in the bi-district round on Tuesday at Ellis Davis Field House. The Panthers (14-15) wrapped up the season in third place in 13-5A.
Turning to Class 6A, Jesuit Dallas will carry momentum into its Division II matchup against Arlington Bowie on Tuesday at South Oak Cliff. The Rangers (23-8) have won seven straight games to move into a tie for first place in District 7-6A.
