WTW, Hillcrest Eliminated from Playoffs
Red Oak pulled away in the second half to end W.T. White’s run in the Class 5A Division I girls basketball playoffs on Friday.
The Hawks used a 13-2 run at the start of the second half to open up a double-digit lead during a 56-34 victory in an area round game at Skyline High School.
The Longhorns (17-10) had their 10-game winning streak snapped as their season ended with a District 13-5A title and a postseason triumph over West Mesquite. All 10 of those victories came by margins of 20 or more points.
In Class 5A Division II, Hillcrest kept the game close against Midlothian Heritage before falling 56-45 in a second-round matchup on Thursday. The Panthers (16-14) topped Woodrow Wilson in their playoff opener.
