HP Girls Surge Past Emerson in Playoffs
Highland Park stifled Frisco Emerson early, then held on late for a 42-37 girls basketball bi-district playoff victory on Monday in Allen.
The Lady Scots blanked the Mavericks in the second quarter in advancing to the Class 5A Division I area round, where they will face Tyler later this week.
Ellington Heis scored 12 points to lead a balanced attack for HP, which was the runner-up in District 12-5A during the regular season. Maya Thompson poured in a game-high 22 for Emerson.
The Lady Scots (22-12) are looking to advance to the third round of the playoffs for the first time since 2022, which also was their most recent season in the 5A classification.
