Panthers Use Late Rally to Sting Hornets

Parish Episcopal surged in the fourth quarter and pulled away late for a 60-47 win at Greenhill in a battle of Dallas private-school boys basketball powerhouses on Tuesday.

The Panthers (27-4) closed with a 21-3 run in a showdown that provided a TAPPS playoff tuneup for Parish as well as valuable SPC tournament prep for the Hornets (26-4), who led for the first three quarters.

Hudson Lucas scored 14 points to lead four players in double figures for the Panthers, including Armon Almuttar with 13, Antoine Almuttar with 12, and Sawyer Batz with 10.

Bryson Watt paced a balanced Greenhill attack with 14 points, followed by Dillon Watt with 13. Jaxson Thompson added 12 points.

The Hornets, who had won 21 of their previous 22 games before Tuesday, finished the regular season tied atop the SPC North Division standings with St. Mark’s. They will seek the school’s first title at the conference tournament on Feb. 14-15 in Fort Worth.

Meanwhile, the defending TAPPS 6A state champion Panthers will host Trinity Christian in their final regular-season home game on Friday.
