A Grand for Grant: Rangers Topple Rams

Jesuit Dallas senior Michael Grant reached an individual milestone while the Rangers reached the 20-win plateau with a 64-58 win over Richardson Berkner in District 7-6A basketball action on Friday at Walsh Gym.

With a first-quarter basket, Grant became the second Jesuit player this season to surpass 1,000 career points. Caleb Steger accomplished the feat during a Nov. 26 victory over Lincoln.

Steger led the way with 21 points against the Rams, followed by Grant with 15. They also were the two top rebounders, along with teammate Charlie Peters.

The Rangers (20-8, 9-2) have won four consecutive games and nine of their last 10 — including an overtime thriller on Jan. 28 at Richardson — to put themselves on the verge of another playoff berth with three games remaining in the regular season. Jesuit will host Irving Nimitz on Tuesday.
