Lady Scots Prepare for Wakeland Showdown
With nine straight wins, the Highland Park girls are positioning themselves for a run at the District 12-5A basketball title.
The most recent victory was a lopsided 58-13 thrashing of Carrollton R.L. Turner on Tuesday. But perhaps the most significant was a 47-41 home win over Frisco Lone Star on Jan. 17 that avenged a December defeat against the Rangers.
That sets up a showdown at home against first-place Frisco Wakeland on Friday that could go a long way toward determining postseason seeding for the Lady Scots. HP suffered a narrow 56-53 loss to Wakeland in the first meeting on Dec. 20.
Checking the district standings, the Lady Scots (18-11, 8-2) are two games behind the Wolverines and one game ahead of third-place Lone Star with four regular-season games remaining. HP has allowed just 28.3 points per game during its winning streak.
