HP, Jesuit Open Season with Tourney Wins

The Highland Park girls opened the 2025 soccer season with three straight wins at the prestigious National Elite Prep Showcase event in Southlake.

The Lady Scots (3-0) started with a 5-1 win over Plano on Thursday before securing 1-0 shutouts against both Flower Mound Marcus and California power Harvard-Westlake.

Ursuline (5-1-1) also was unbeaten in its two games at NEPS, topping Prosper 3-0 before earning a 1-1 draw against Harvard-Westlake.

In boys action, both HP and Jesuit Dallas defended their home fields with championships at their respective season-opening tournaments.

The Scots (2-0-1) began their campaign with a 1-1 draw versus Wylie on Thursday before they blanked South Grand Prairie 3-0 and Midlothian 1-0 as part of the HP Classic at Highlander Stadium.

Meanwhile, the Rangers (2-0-1) did not allow a goal during three games at the annual Meintser Tournament, culminating with a 1-0 triumph against Arlington Sam Houston in the title game on Saturday, thanks to a first-half goal by Andres Benitez. It was a rematch of the Class 6A state championship clash from 2017, also won by the Rangers.

Jesuit also defeated Fort Worth Nolan 3-0 and survived penalty kicks after a scoreless draw with Bryan Adams during the tournament. Other participating teams included Plano, Rowlett, Trinity Christian, and Skyline.
