Scheffler Awarded Again as Best on Tour

Scottie Scheffler’s reign atop the professional golf world continued this week, when he was honored with his third consecutive Jack Nicklaus Award as the PGA Tour’s player of the year.

The former Highland Park standout joins Tiger Woods as the only players to claim the award in three consecutive years. Xander Schauffele and Rory McIlroy were the other finalists, but Scheffler dominated the voting among Tour players.

Scheffler won a career-best nine events during 2024, capped by a resounding six-shot victory on Sunday at the Hero World Challenge in The Bahamas. He retained his No. 1 world ranking throughout the year, with highlights including a second Masters triumph and a gold medal at the Paris Olympics.

Scheffler won the season-ending Tour Championship tournament and also was part of the winning American side at the Presidents Cup. His consistency was remarkable, with 16 top-10 finishes in 19 Tour starts and no missed cuts.

He becomes the first player since Woods in 2007 to claim seven Tour events in the same season. And he’s quickly building a career legacy to match.
