SKULDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: BECAUSE YOU’RE WORTH IT

Two women took L’Oreal’s “because you’re worth it” slogan too literally before 12:20 p.m. on May 23. They may have been worth it, but they couldn’t pay for it. They shoplifted 30 L’Oreal, Olay, and CVS brand facial products, along with a SIMA Sonic Dermaplaning device, from CVS on Preston Road.

UNIVERSITY PARK

20 Monday

It was a downer when a savvy thief stole an UPPAbaby stroller from a home on Normandy Avenue before 10:46 a.m.

21 Tuesday

A fraudster committed forgery involving a check prior to 3:32 p.m. in Snider Plaza.

A forger used an electronic device to steal money from a resident of University Boulevard before 6:06 p.m.

Officers made a warrant arrest of a man at 8:22 p.m. in the 6400 block of Lomo Alto Drive.

22 Wednesday

Reported at 6:18 p.m.: Officers followed-up on a report of a juvenile making threats to another juvenile at a school on Lovers Lane.

A brazen burglar stole a purse, $200 cash, a brown and black cheetah print wallet, and credit cards from a car parked on Hillcrest Avenue before 8:29 p.m.

Reported at 8:59 p.m.: A purse poacher stole a bag from a Toyota Corolla parked on University Boulevard.

24 Friday

A man was arrested for driving while intoxicated at 1:20 a.m. in Snider Plaza.

A crook stole currency from an unlocked GMC before 10:48 a.m. in the 3700 block of Purdue Street.

Reported at 11:53 p.m.: A woman was arrested for driving while intoxicated in the 3400 block of Purdue Street.

25 Saturday

A thief stole jewelry worth between $2,500 and $30,000 from a woman in the 4300 block of Emerson Avenue.

Suspects fled on foot after stealing a L’Oreal product from CVS in Snider Plaza before 9:37 p.m.

Reported at 11:28 p.m.: Officers responded to a minor crash on Villanova Drive, then arrested one driver for driving while intoxicated.

26 Sunday

A thief with a taste for luxury handbags stole an Able slingback purse, Able wallet, driver’s license, keys, credit and debit cards, and $25 cash from a Lexus on University Boulevard.

HIGHLAND PARK

20 Monday

Officers arrested a man for mail theft at 2:46 a.m. at the intersection of Abbott Avenue and St Johns Drive.

Reported at 5:49 p.m.: A garbage bag full of items left by a man who stormed off after being told he couldn’t just leave property at the Highland Park Department of Public Safety without talking to an officer was placed in a property locker for safekeeping.

21 Tuesday

Officers arrested two men on warrants at 2:53 a.m. in the 4500 block of Abbott Avenue.

22 Wednesday

Officers arrested a man for public intoxication at 5:30 p.m. in Highland Park Village.

Reported at 5:30 p.m.: A serial bicycle thief stole three bikes from the balcony of an apartment in the 4700 block of Abbott Avenue at different times between Jan. 15 and May 22.

A brazen burglar broke the window of a Lexus RX 350 parked in the 3300 block of Mockingbird Lane before 9 p.m. and stole a backpack containing gym clothes.

24 Friday

Officers arrested a man for making a threat and resisting arrest at 1:26 a.m. in the 4700 block of Bowser Court.

25 Saturday

Officers made a warrant arrest at 1:47 a.m. in the 5400 block of Lomo Alto Drive.

Officers arrested a woman for public intoxication at 6:55 p.m. in Highland Park Village.
