Scots Earn Three Shutouts in Tournament
The Highland Park boys continued the undefeated start to their soccer season by winning all three games over the weekend at the MSU Invitational tournament in Wichita Falls.
The Scots (7-0-1) shut out all three opponents — Saginaw, Mansfield Lake Ridge, and Wichita Falls — by a combined margin of 10-0 in their final tuneup for the remainder of the District 7-6A schedule. They will travel to face Irving MacArthur on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the HP girls secured a win, a loss, and a tie against elite competition at the National Elite Prep Showcase event in Southlake. The highlight for the Lady Scots (3-2-1) was a 4-0 win over defending 6A state champion Flower Mound Marcus. Goal scorers included Lucy Cox, Sophie Miller, Addie Brink, and Arden Rodgers.
HP also played a scoreless draw against Wolfforth Frenship and fell 3-1 to Coppell (with Adeline Jacobs providing the lone goal), snapping a five-game unbeaten streak.
The final nondistrict test for the Lady Scots comes at the prestigious Governor’s Cup tournament in Georgetown. They will face Kingwood Park, Boerne Champion, and Lovejoy in the three-day tournament starting on Thursday.
