Benz Leads HP Gymnasts Again in Bedford
William Benz scored his second perfect 10 of the season as the Highland Park boys placed second among 10 teams in a compulsory gymnastics meet on Thursday in Bedford.
Benz’s perfect score on vault came two weeks after another 10 on horizontal bar during a season-opening meet in Garland. He also earned a 9.9 on pommel horse and was top 10 in all six events. The Scots were second to defending state champion Rockwall in the team standings.
The following day, the HP girls finished third in their season opener in Bedford, highlighted by a 1-2 finish from Eva Madden and Margaret Maambo on uneven bars.
That wraps up the compulsory portion of the schedule for HP, which will begin optional competition on Jan. 18 at Rockwall.
