Tony Romo Documentary Finally Makes It to Streaming

Granted the beloved and bemoaned former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo may be a bit too FAR North Dallas to make an ideal subject for a post serving my markets — even if he likes to hangout from time to time with the Joneses of Highland Park.

Still, an email touting the new streaming availability of documentary Now or Never: A Tony Romo Story had me thinking of our sports editor Todd Jorgenson.

So, I emailed him:

“Sports and movies: your favorite things combined?!?! Any interest?”

“A classic combo, indeed, which is why I wrote about this very same project four years ago,” Jorgenson replied, recalling a story he did for our sister publication D Magazine.

The interview with Christian Hanna, an El Paso filmmaker and fan of No. 9, happened back in 2019 when the movie was circulating film festivals.

Feels a little old now. Why the delay of game?

“The pandemic slowed down the process of getting it picked up by a distributor,” publicist Dave Acosta explained.

And find the ZGN Productions film, approved by Romo and licensed in association with NFL Films, on Amazon Prime video, Google Play, Hoopla, Vudo, YouTube, and other streaming services.
