6 PH Schools Named Top Performing at Math, Science Meet
Six Preston Hollow-area schools were top performing campuses at the Texas Math and Science Coaches Dallas ISD Invitational Meet.
These top performing campuses included Hillcrest High School, Sudie L. Williams Talented and Gifted Academy, Dealey Montessori Academy, Walnut Hill International Leadership Academy, Kramer Elementary, and Foster Elementary.
Seventy-five schools attended the meet, with more than 1,400 students grades third through twelfth competing in four TMSCA academic competitions: number sense, calculator applications, math, and science.
TMSCA invitational meets allow elementary and secondary students to practice for UIL math and science contests.
“TMSCA improves students’ skills in standardized, timed testing and teaches them to work under pressure,” TMSCA executive director Julie Majewski-Smith said. “Participating instills in students an increased sense of pride in academic achievement, teaches them to set goals for their achievements, and gives them a framework in which they can work to achieve those goals.”
The invitational meet was sponsored by the Dallas ISD student activities department and was the first TMSCA competition of the year for elementary and secondary STEM students.
STEM students will continue participating in online and in-person TMSCA invitational meets to prepare for state competitions in the spring semester.
