Stallings Foundation Donates $1M to Nexus Recovery Center
The Stallings Foundation recently donated $1 million to Nexus Recovery Center, the largest gift in the foundation’s 22-year history.
The Stallings Foundation’s gift supports Nexus’ “Recovery Rising” campaign to reimagine Nexus’ 11-acre campus. The foundation was established by Robert and Linda Stallings.
“The Recovery Rising campaign will achieve Nexus’ goal of providing a safe, dignified, and sustainable campus,” said Kristy and Raymond Faus, Recovery Rising co-chairs. “This generous gift from The Stallings Foundation will help us build a facility where all women and their children can find hope and healing through recovery.”
Phase 1 of the Recovery Rising campaign aims to raise $10 million to construct a new medical facility, the Doswell Medical Building. Located on the front parcel of the Nexus campus, this 10,000-square-foot building will house an expanded admissions area, a waiting room, 16 detoxification beds with an adjacent nursing station, group counseling spaces for medication-assisted treatment, and medical facilities for providers centered around a courtyard.
“The Stallings Foundation is highly focused on transforming the lives of children and families so they can thrive and develop hope for the future,” said Bob Stallings, chairman of The Stallings Foundation. “We view our commitment to Nexus as an investment in the future of women seeking stability and a healthy environment for their children. The clear return on this investment is the transformation of lives and, in some cases, generational change for these women and children.”
Future phases of the Recovery Rising campaign will focus on living and treatment spaces. The campaign also aims to increase capacity, increase operational reserves, address operational annual needs, and build staff.
