Scots Finish Strong at Marcus XC Meet
The Highland Park girls finished seventh in the team standings against some elite competition at the Marcus Coach T Invitational cross country meet on Saturday in Denton.
The Lady Scots were led individually by Maddie Heckler, who completed the 5-kilometer course at North Lakes Park in 18 minutes, 50 seconds, which was good for 14th place.
In the boys race, HP was 11th as a team but did not have any runners come in the top 50. St. Mark’s finished ninth, paced by Raja Mehendale in 27th position.
Next up, the HP girls will compete on Sept. 9 at Myers Park in McKinney, on the same course where the District 7-6A meet will take place in October. The boys will return to action on Sept. 16 at the Lovejoy Fall Festival, also at Myers Park.
