HP Gymnasts Shine in Final Meet of Year
The Highland Park boys won the team title at the Toys for Tots Invitational gymnastics meet on Dec. 1-2 in Bedford, while the girls placed second.
Clayton Staunton won three events for HP and was the runner-up in the other three. John Sartain was second on pommel horse and parallel bars, tying with teammate Austin Chapman in both events.
In girls action, Ana Simpson was third in the all-around standings, as well as third on uneven bars and balance beam. Lily Ford placed second on floor exercise.
The meet wrapped up the compulsory portion of the season, with the Scots set to begin their optional meet season on Jan. 19 at Saginaw Chisholm Trail.
