Highland Park showcased its depth and defended its title in the girls varsity division at the Luke’s Locker Six-Mile Relay on Saturday at Norbuck Park.
The Lady Scots easily took the top two spots at the 37th annual meet, which is hosted by Greenhill and is contested on a unique course featuring hay-bale obstacles. Each runner completes 1.5 miles as part of a four-person team.
The winning quartet for HP includes Charlotte Hudson, Maddie Heckler, Kayla Dickerson, and Ellie Preston, who crossed the finish line in a combined time of 36 minutes, 56 seconds. The runners-up were Sara Cavey, Ashley Goldman, Caroline Scott, and Samantha Meck.
Meanwhile, the HP boys placed 11th out of 40 teams in an elite field at the Southlake Invitational at Bob Jones Park. The Scots were led by William Jaudes in 41st place individually with a time of 16 minutes, 2 seconds.
Both HP squads will return to action on Sept. 3 at the Marcus Coach T Invitational at North Lakes Park in Denton.
