HP Keeps Rolling in Early Tournaments

After head coach Michael Dearman surpassed another milestone, Highland Park earned a third-place finish at the prestigious Volleypalooza tournament over the weekend in Cedar Park.

The Lady Scots (23-2) won their first seven matches (best of three sets) against top competition at the three-day event before falling to Plano Prestonwood in the semifinals, snapping a 19-match winning streak.

Prestonwood is the only team to defeat HP this season after also handing the Lady Scots a narrow loss in the Rockwall tournament earlier this month.

Prior to that setback, HP earned victories at the tournament over Cedar Park Vista Ridge, Cibolo Steele, Pearland, Aledo, The Woodlands, Barbers Hill, and Lovejoy. During pool play on Aug. 25, Dearman earned his 800th career coaching win.

The Lady Scots followed up with a sweep of Plano East on Tuesday. They travel to face Aledo on Friday before returning home to conclude nondistrict play on Sept. 6 against Rockwall-Heath.
