SKULDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: FRIDAY THE 13th MYSTERY
A resident in the 5000 block of Holland Avenue reported various items including miscellaneous clothes, ice skates, sunglasses, boots, a curling iron, a Toro yard blower, a resistance band, a dog leash, and more left outside her window before 9:03 a.m. May 13.
HIGHLAND PARK
11 Wednesday
Reported at 3:22 p.m.: a smash and grab. A rogue broke the front driver’s window of a Toyota Tacoma in the 4500 block of Bordeaux Avenue and grabbed a black backpack with a $1,000 Dell laptop, a MacBook charger, and a $100 Bluetooth mouse.
12 Thursday
Mystery truck: A crook left a stolen Dodge Ram truck with a ladder in the bed parked with the engine running in the 3400 block of Cornell Avenue before 8:10 a.m.
Arrested at 6:02 p.m.: a 24 year old accused of cruelty to animals in the 4200 block of Mockingbird Lane.
13 Friday
A careless driver left a Honda CRV parked in front of a fire hydrant in the 5400 block of Douglas Avenue before 2:15 p.m.
A good neighbor found a box containing ink cartridges in a garage in the 5000 block of Holland Avenue and turned it in to the police.
A reckless driver in a black SUV hit a Lexus LX5 parked in front of the Rolex store in Highland Park Village, backed out, and drove away eastbound without exchanging information at 5:28 p.m.
14 Saturday
Arrested at 12:49 a.m.: a 36 year old for a warrant in the 4900 block of Byron Avenue.
Arrested at 2:33 a.m.: a 33-year-old woman accused of possession of a controlled substance and for warrants in the 4900 block of Byron Avenue.
Arrested at 10:44 a.m.: a 22-year-old man accused of indecent exposure in the 4200 block of Oak Lawn Avenue.

9 Monday
How easy was it for a burglar to drive off in a truck parked in the 3500 block of Purdue Street at 11:12 a.m.? The keys were left inside.
10 Tuesday
A ne’er do well took a Lenovo laptop from a Maserati parked in the 3800 block of Caruth Boulevard overnight before 7:30 a.m.
11 Wednesday
A purse pilferer picked a bag containing various documents, $20, and credit/debit cards from a convenience store in Snider Plaza before 11:14 a.m.
A wannabe thief tried but failed to take a Tesla Model S from a parking lot in the 6000 block of Preston Road at 11:47 a.m.
12 Thursday
Reported at 4:02 a.m.: a jerk drove off in a BMW X5 parked in the 2900 block of Rosedale Avenue “without permission.”
A swindler tried to use someone else’s information to withdraw money from the Benchmark Bank location in the 7000 block of Hillcrest Avenue at 11:12 a.m.
No time was given for the arrest of a 45-year-old woman accused of fraudulent use or possession of identifying information in the 7000 block of Hillcrest Avenue.
