Local Students Named Broadway Dallas High School Musical Theatre Awards Nominees

Broadway Dallas recently announced the nominees for the 11th-annual High School Musical Theatre Awards and students from Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts and Highland Park High School are among the nominees for outstanding supporting performer.

Ria Marsh from Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts was nominated for a role in the school’s production of Mamma Mia! and Cate Gould from Highland Park was nominated for a role in the school’s production of Legally Blonde.

Booker T. Washington’s production of Mamma Mia! is also up for best choreography and best ensemble.

The award ceremony will be May 20 at the Music Hall at Fair Park.

A total of 83 productions from 72 participating high schools were evaluated by a group of judges from the North Texas theater community.

Awards will be presented in 14 categories and scholarships are awarded to outstanding graduating seniors who are nominated by their teachers and selected by the Broadway Dallas scholarship panel.

Through funds raised by private donations, Broadway Dallas HSMTA will award $55,000 in scholarships. To date, the Broadway Dallas HSMTA College Scholarship program has awarded more than $450,000 in cash scholarships to deserving students.
