City Celebrates Curtis Park Upgrades

City of University Park officials this week celebrated the completion of some major upgrades to Curtis Park.

The work included implementing a new plant and tree layout with irrigation, adding hardscape including sidewalks and an observation deck, and decorative railing near Turtle Creek. The park at 3500 Lovers Lane is home to the Holmes Aquatic Center, playing fields, ponds, tennis courts, and other amenities.

“This is essentially the hub of the community with the Holmes Aquatic Center, the ball diamond … (and) the playground, but what can you do to add to it?” University Park Parks Director Sean Johnson said. “We’re just excited to add another feature to our already wonderful park system.”

The University Park City Council approved a $350,847.45 contract with RLM Earthco for the improvements to the west side of Curtis Park in November 2021.
