WTW Surges Into Third Round in Soccer
A first-half goal from Andrew Deleon lifted W.T. White to a 1-0 victory over McKinney North in the boys soccer playoffs on Tuesday in Plano.
In girls action, WTW’s Margaret Williams scored the only goal during a 1-0 upset win over Lovejoy in an area-round game in Frisco. Carmen Lopez earned the shutout in goal for the Longhorns.
Both WTW squads advance to the Class 5A Region II quarterfinals, where they will play a doubleheader on Friday against perennial power Frisco Wakeland at Richardson High School.
Meanwhile, the Jesuit and Hillcrest boys each saw their underdog playoff runs come to an end in the area round on Tuesday. The Rangers fell 1-0 in overtime to Lewisville in 6A Region I, while the Panthers lost 4-0 to Wakeland in 5A Region II.
