Seniors Have New Graduation Requirements

Whether they need financial aid or not, every high school senior in the state of Texas has a few more items to check off their to-do lists before they can get a diploma.

Starting this year, prospective graduates are required under House Bill 3 to complete and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), a Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA), or a signed opt-out form.

Highland Park ISD has a web page devoted to helping seniors and their parents to navigate the forms and college application process. It also includes tips on planning college visits and other details.

Dallas ISD offers a list of resources and FAQ to answer questions, and will host webinars on March 29 and 31 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. to help as well.
