SKULDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: QUICK GETAWAY

Trespassers tried to take an OSB board from a construction site in the 3400 block of Cornell Avenue at 4:28 a.m. March 15, but ran off, abandoning a van and phone, when police arrived.

16 Wednesday

Reported at 2:07 p.m.: A porch pirate pilfered packages containing a set of $50,032.92 custom dinner china from a home in the 4200 block of Westway Avenue.

A thief got into a van in the 4500 block of Belclaire Avenue and grabbed $500, various credit and bank cards, and three DeWalt drills before 3:16 p.m.

17 Thursday

A careless driver hit a Toyota LX parked in Highland Park Village before 1:40 p.m. and drove off without leaving information. 

Arrested at 9:43 p.m.: a 26-year-old accused of driving with an expired registration, running a red light, and warrants in the 5400 block of Abbott Avenue.

18 Friday

Arrested at 12:21 a.m.: a 41-year-old man for warrants in the 4100 block of Lomo Alto Drive.

A good neighbor found a wallet and phone at the corner of Mockingbird Lane and Hillcrest Avenue around 11:20 a.m. and turned them in to the police.

Reported at 3:17 p.m.: A burglar broke the driver’s side window of a vehicle in the 4300 block of Arcady Avenue but didn’t grab anything from inside.

A reckless driver in a Porsche Macan veered into a median and hit a light pole in the 4200 block of Mockingbird Lane at 4:41 p.m.

An irresponsible driver in a Range Rover hit the side-view mirror of a GMC Yukon in the 4500 block of Mockingbird Lane before 4:45 p.m. and continued driving without stopping to leave information. 

19 Saturday

Arrested at 3:27 a.m.: a 33-year-old accused of public intoxication in the 5300 block of Roland Avenue.

A pickpurse picked a wallet from a diner’s purse at Bistro 31 in Highland Park Village around 1:50 p.m.

20 Sunday

A ne’er do well grabbed a wallet out of a fellow shopper’s purse at the Whole Foods store in the 4100 block of Lomo Alto Drive.

Reported at 7:41 p.m.: an intruder kicked in the doors of a home in the 3600 block of Stratford Avenue but didn’t take anything.

16 Wednesday

Reported at 7:37 a.m.: a burglar got into a Volvo XC90 in the 3000 block of Mockingbird Lane and grabbed a Tori Burch purse, Apple device, and more from inside.

Arrested: a 30-year-old man accused of driving without a license in the 7800 block of Preston Road. No time was given.

18 Friday

Arrested: a 17-year-old man accused of failing to identify in the 3900 block of Villanova Drive.

19 Saturday

Reported at 7:19 p.m.: A swindler used the information of a man from the 3200 block of Westminster Avenue to open a cell phone account.

20 Sunday

Reported at 12:45 p.m.: A shoplifter snatched clothes from a store in the 4400 block of Lovers Lane.
