HP Soccer Teams Keep Rolling in 13-5A

With 14 goals in a two-day span, Highland Park remained undefeated this season and held its spot atop the District 13-5A girls soccer standings.

The Lady Scots (11-0-2, 4-0-1) thumped North Forney 7-1 on Monday and Crandall 7-0 on Tuesday. They have outscored their five district opponents by a combined margin of 25-1.

Kylie Bell scored twice against North Forney, while Atty Meyer and Hattie Speicher added two goals apiece in the Crandall game. Other goals came from Parker Hart, Ella Weathersby, Hailey Balekian, and Grace Meyer.

HP will travel to face Mesquite Poteet on Friday before returning home on Feb. 15 to wrap up the first half of the league schedule against West Mesquite.

In boys action, HP extended its shutout streak to three with a 2-0 victory at North Forney on Monday followed by a 7-0 win at Crandall on Tuesday. Richie Paulus and Jake Whitehurst scored against North Forney, while Kyle Barron saved a penalty kick as part of his clean sheet.

Jack Krejs tallied two goals to lead the Tuesday scoring barrage, with other scorers including Paulus, Whitehurst, Brant Williams, Jake Tanzy, and Rhett Rapuzzi.

Next up, the Scots (9-2-1, 5-0) will host Mesquite Poteet on Friday before concluding the first half of 13-5A play on Feb. 15 at West Mesquite.
