Hosch, Blue Wave Dominate District Meet

Hosting its first postseason meet in its new natatorium, Highland Park swept the boys and girls team titles at the District 13-5A championships over the weekend.

The Blue Wave used their depth to surpass runner-up The Colony in the overall standings. Lindsey Hosch, the defending state champion in the 100 breaststroke, was named the top girls swimmer of the meet.

Girls event winners for HP included Hosch (100 butterfly, 100 breaststroke), Campbell Schultz (200 freestyle), Corinne Banta (50 freestyle), Angelina Huang (200 individual medley, 100 backstroke), and Kylie Williams (100 freestyle). Boys individual district champions for the Blue Wave were Roman Duong (100 butterfly), G.B. Stalnaker (200 freestyle), and Ruihan Zhu (100 breaststroke).

The medalists in each event, including diving, qualified for the Class 5A Region IV meet on Feb. 7-8 in The Colony. The state meet is slated for Feb. 18-19 in Austin.
