Clean Sheets Clinch Tourney for HP Girls
The Highland Park girls defended their home turf without allowing a goal during the Highlander Classic tournament over the weekend.
The Lady Scots finished with a 2-0-1 mark in the three-day event that included a 6-0 win over Plano East, a 2-0 victory over Mansfield Lake Ridge, and a scoreless draw against Cedar Park.
On the boys side of the tournament, HP earned impressive wins over Conrad and Carrollton R.L. Turner by a combined margin of 10-1, but suffered a 2-1 defeat against Adamson.
Standouts during the three games for HP included Lucas Guevara, Landon Casola, Jake Whitehurst, Richie Paulus, Jack Krejs, and Jack O’Grady.
The Scots (3-1) will head to Wichita Falls this week for a tournament at Midwestern State University. They will meet Cleburne on Thursday, Mount Pleasant on Friday, and Prosper Rock Hill on Saturday. HP’s next home game will be the District 13-5A opener against Forney on Jan. 25.
Meanwhile, the girls (3-0-1) will next travel to the Round Rock ISD tournament beginning Thursday for games against The Woodlands, Georgetown, and Hutto over a three-day stretch. HP will return home to face Richardson Pearce on Jan. 18.
